The house in question was once on Langside Street, north of Portage Avenue, and was slated for destruction to make way for the westward development of the University of Winnipeg. In 2009 a large house was aquired at the extreme west end of Broadway Avenue. Rehabilitation work began in Ausust of 2009 and continues well into 2010. When completed, 762 Broadway will be the first building to the entrance to the neighbourhood. We hope to make it a welcoming sight to those turning onto Broadway Avenue from Portage Avenue. The building, before rehabilitation, is pictured below.

Westminster Housing Society has additional plans for 2010. Approval has been received for the development of a new small apartment building. The project can unfold during the year. The 4 units are to be leased to tenants who are recommended by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, with the WRHA providing supervision. It is also hoped that WHS will begin its first project in the Spence Neighbourhood, where a 4-unit rehab project is tentatively planned.
